Faculty are encouraged to pursue local and national training opportunities. The cost of training programs can be covered in multiple ways — individual academic funds, divisional funds, the UCSF Chancellor’s Fund, or grant funds.

UCSF Mentor Training Progam

The UCSF Mentor Training Program (MTP) is for mid-career and early senior faculty to become the next generation of confident and effective clinical and translational research mentors. Six modules, offered annually.

Physician Leadership Program

The Foundations for Excellence in Physician Leadership program is a nine-month initiative for physicians early in their leadership journey. This program will leverage participants’ current role to provide them with the foundational skills, knowledge and awareness not only to effectively lead a clinical team, but also to navigate the administration of health care. This program includes pre-work, nine three-hour monthly leadership learning sessions, executive coaching, project-based learning and planned networking luncheons. Expert facilitators, industry leaders and executive coaches will aid in fostering the participants’ leadership development, reflective practice and career mapping.

The Healthforce Center develops and manages a wide variety of programs, including the California Health Care Foundations's Health Care Leadership Program and alumni network, the California Improvement Network, and a Clinic Leadership Institute.

UC-Wide

UC-Coro Systemwide Leadership Collaborative

Since 2006, the University of California has partnered with Coro Northern California to develop current and future administrative and faculty leaders. The UC-Coro Systemwide Leadership Collaborative program focuses on enhancing leadership skills, fostering relationships, networking, and collaboration across UC while building a pipeline for executive leadership positions. Each cohort participates in seminars, intersession assignments and a group project.

UC Women's Initiative for Professional Development (UC WI)

An experiential professional development program committed to enabling the full participation, success, and advancement of woman-identified professionals at the University of California. The program is open to all who support this mission and who are interested in the development of woman-identified professionals, including faculty, academic personnel, and staff. Cohorts benefit from four days of sessions, assignments, access to an online networking platform, and professional coaching.

Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health Executive Education Programs

Programs for health care managers through C-Suite executives and from physicians to business leaders. Executive education programs offer knowledge and skill building in the areas critical to organizational success. Participants seeking to build leadership and management capabilities will find our executive education programs are designed to assist with strategic planning while providing new information and techniques for immediate implementation. Harvard faculty present programs in collaboration with other recognized leaders in the field.

Geisel Leadership and Professional Development (LPD) at Dartmouth

The material covered in this course is in accordance with the Geisel School of Medicine mission and commitment to create a community of physician and other leaders who exercise the kind of leadership required to tackle our most vexing challenges in health care.

The purpose of the course is to develop a deeper understanding of what is required to be a leader and to build a solid foundation providing you with greater access to exercising leadership effectively. Participants will begin developing mastery of a new “conversational domain” which will provide new opportunity sets for exercising more effective leadership.
